Toyota did have Panasonic as a sponsor in the past, their F1 team was even called “Panasonic Toyota Racing”
Though it is indeed weird that McLaren Honda has no Japanese sponsors.

I think Panasonic is bidding to become the provider of the Formula E batteries, as well as the Jaguar E-SUV. It’s likely more of a partnership than a sponsorship.

It’s also interesting that there’s no Panasonic sponsorship on the TS050 - I thought Toyota’s Li-ion battery production was through Primearth EV Energy, which is 80.5% Toyota, 19.5% Panasonic.

That’s weird indeed, maybe Panasonic doesn’t see the purpose of sponsoring the WEC effort.
